Music

Classroom music education at Yarra Primary School is designed to engage students in music making and creativity within a supportive and encouraging classroom environment. The pedagogical approach of the program is based upon Orff music education and the belief that everyone has something to contribute musically to a community of music makers.

All students from Prep to Year 6 attend specialist music lessons for one hour each week. In addition to specialist music lessons, an instrumental music program, ABC Music, is also available, with children learning from visiting music tutors. Please click on the link here for more information.

Yarra Primary features a school choir for students from Years 2-6. The school choir rehearses during lunchtimes and performs at assemblies and special events throughout the year. There is also a percussion ensemble that students can be a part of.

Each year, we hold a Christmas Concert for the school community which features a dance from each class and a range of other student performances based on current student interests.
