The Yarra Primary School Kitchen Garden Program is a joyous community project that aims to grow, harvest and share the produce of our bountiful garden and grounds. Each student, assisted by staff and parent volunteers, has the opportunity to tend to our productive garden and cook a feast once a term. Our curious students enjoy our weekly lunctime Garden Club and learn about sustainable practices through our whole-school composting program. Our Kitchen Garden Program inspires students to become life-long advocates for healthy lifestyles. Exposing children to natural world at an early age gives them the cofidence, experience and caring attitude needed for a sustainable future. The plants and food we cook reflects Richmond's vibrant community spirit - a rich diversity of cultural and social backgrounds. Our Kitchen Garden Program brings our community together to instill pride in our school and world around us.
