Principal's Report

Welcome to the 2022 school year! Your child will bring home their second box of Rapid Antigen Test tonight. Please check their bags and contact the school if needed.

We have missed Saraid as she has been isolating for the last two weeks. The Yarra community, staff and students are all looking forward to her return to work on Monday 14th - HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

In Saraid’s absence we have been busy settling into the rhythms and routines of school. Our Prep cohort have taken to school like a duck to water. They have shown their character strengths of ‘Bravery’, ‘Perseverance’ and ‘Curiosity’ over the last two weeks.

English and Maths Online Interviews have been conducted by Rachel and Josiah on Wednesdays. Please contact either teacher if your child has not been allocated an interview time and date.

ABC music has commenced music lessons - guitar and keyboard - on Thursdays and Fridays with enrolled students.

Kitchen Garden has commenced on Thursdays, with Years 5 and 6 classes producing restaurant style lunches and sharing these with the Admin team! 😊

Smile Squad are at Yarra Primary School till February 25th.  Smile Squad is a Victorian Government initiative to provide free dental services to students at school during school hours. This includes any general treatment that is needed. Registration and consent forms can be collected from Leanne.

Our Lawn Bowls Team went for a training session at the Richmond Union Bowls club on Wednesday afternoon and showed marked improvement during the session. The District Lawn Bowls Competition is to be conducted on 16th February at Richmond Union Bowls Club.

Swimming trials are also on the agenda for next week with selected students attending the District Swimming Trials at Richmond Leisure Centre on Friday 18th February.  We wish all our sporting teams every success and are proud to have them represent our school.

Staff have recently completed CUST – Community Understanding and Safety Training – which increased their understanding of Koorie culture, history and experience, ensuring a strong foundation for a culturally inclusive school and practices.

Junior and Senior Information Nights are on the calendar for 22nd and 23rd February so please check Compass for further details.

Congratulations and good luck! to Josiah and Michelle on the impending birth of their second child.

Yours in partnership,

Valetta
